Lakeland Cross Country… Run Fast, Run Smart!

We will be meeting this summer on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  These are optional runs; however, we highly encourage you to attend as many as possible.  If you attend at least ten out of sixteen runs this summer, that will help you in possibly receiving a varsity letter this year in XC.  While we will meet as a team twice a week, you should be running 4-5 days per week total, and you should be building up your mileage over the summer.  By the time official practices begin on August 8, you should have worked your way up to running for 30+ minutes straight 4-5 days per week.

2022 Season Kick-Off Camp

This summer we are having our first ever campout to kick off the season.  We will be spending July 25th-26th at Camp Lutherhaven, participating in a ropes course, team bonding activities, running, goal setting, swimming, and having a great time.  Team funds are paying for a large portion of this, but each athlete will need to pay $30 to help cover the cost of the high ropes course and food.  If this is a financial hardship for your family, please let one of the coaches know.  We are looking forward to two days of fun and team bonding.

Please put the dates on your calendar because this will be

an event that you do not want to miss.

Anyone interested in XC should sign up for Remind text messages.  You can also sign up in the app if you have it.  We do most of our communication via Remind, so both athletes and parents are encouraged to join.  Do so right away if you are considering joining the team this fall so you don’t miss out on summer activities!

Before you can start XC this fall, you must complete the registration process.  You are not allowed to start fall official practices until all of these are completed:

  1. Online Registration:  Registration must be completed each year of athletic participation.  Please create an account at, and it will take you through the process.

  2. Paid ASB:  Please bring the $40 ASB fee to the LHS front office.  You can pay this fee during school registration.  A paid ASB fee is required for each year of athletic participation as these funds help pay for our expenses.

  3. Interim Form:  An interim form must be submitted to the front office in grades 10 (if you competed in a sport during 9th grade at LHS) and 12 (if you competed in a sport during 11th grade at LHS).

  4. Sports Physical:  A sports physical is required for all new LHS athletes.  An updated/new sports physical is required in 11th grade.  Please turn this into the front office.

  5.  Impact Test:  An impact test is required for all new LHS athletes.  An updated/new impact test is required in 11th grade.  These must now be completed at Lakeland High School.  Impact tests completed elsewhere are not valid.  Contact the school for testing dates and times.
